Rhodes is a perennial fodder crop that lasts in the field for many years. It is used as green or dry fodder for cattle, sheep and goats.

The most important nutrients in Rhodes are protein, with a ratio ranging between 8-13%, according to the cultivated variety, and there are some other elements such as (potassium - phosphorous - iron _ magnesium) and others. It is palatable by pastoral animals, especially cows.

Rasiyat covers a large proportion of the local need for Rhodes fodder for farms and herds of cows and sheep in Sudan. It also has the readiness to export Rhodes to those wishing to import Rhodes from Sudan
